Ever since October 7th, authoritarian communist groups and vanguard parties have had a fresh crisis to use for their predatory recruiting and fundraising. More experienced people know to avoid them, but this doesn’t matter much. They depend on recruiting newly radicalized people, energetic and inexperienced, and without existing connections to other radicals that could warn them off.
This zine is an intervention. Written for people newer to radical politics, it outlines red flags to look out for, provides some history of the most well-known authoritarian communist groups’ harmful behavior, and offers a few alternatives to joining them. Give this to the new people you’re seeing join movements, it could help them avoid lots of grief and serious harm.

We are not special. Our skills are not overly technical or advanced, and our tools are simple to acquire. If you are reading this, you are capable of doing what we do.
While I agree with this sentiment, the reader is left with many questions about how to develop such a capacity for action, even if they are motivated. What exactly does it take to not get caught carrying out heavy actions like arson? This is especially important in the long run; not getting caught for a single arson is one thing, but being able to continue carrying out attacks in the face of heightened repressive attention is quite another.
For anyone who wants to carry out actions like this, but isn’t doing so yet, I’ve sketched an outline of the steps I think are necessary to sustain hard-hitting attacks on domination (limited to the topic of “operational” considerations, i.e., acquiring skills). This brief outline is intended to orient you and provide a “learning path” — each step has recommended reading that actually goes into the appropriate amount of depth on the subject. Use the Tails operating system to visit these links, which runs from a USB drive and leaves no trace on your computer. What I’ve written here is by no means definitive, and I hope to spark a dialogue about any operational aspects I may have neglected, as well as anything outside this scope that is important for sustaining and intensifying the capacity for action. Activists Aim to Distribute 22,500 Books Removed from Schools in Duval County, FL
Asheville, NC (January 4, 2024) – Firestorm Books announced this week that it had acquired thousands of children’s books banned from the Duval County Public School system in Florida. The queer- and trans-owned bookstore will be giving away hundreds of copies each of nearly four dozen titles exploring topics from racism and colonialism to social movement history and visionary organizing. In a social media post, Firestorm asked people to make donations to help cover the cost of shipping books directly to children, and encouraged kids and adults to submit requests for these free book bundles.

We wanted to submit this addendum to “Find Each Other, Build Your Communities: Full Moon Anarchist Gatherings”. So many people have been able to connect or reconnect with other anti-authoritarians thanks to the organizers of gatherings like the ones described. BUT, it seems that whomever wrote this either left some stuff out, or just isn’t familiar with Great Lakes region weather and/or doesn’t seem to be concerned about hosting potential superspreader events inside in the midst of another covid surge and the height of flu season. We have enough ancestors and enough of our people have been sidelined by long covid already. So here’s…
Most readers probably don’t imagine such social events happening outside in the middle of winter, in deep snow or blustry north winds, but sometimes that’s what we HAVE TO DO, for almost half the year. Thankfully, doing so can be just as fun as a summer event, just in different ways, and can leave you feeling badass after pulling it off. Continue reading “FIND EACH OTHER: WINTER EDITION”
Monthly gatherings centering anti-authoritarian politics and values, rather than ditching them in favor of ‘left unity’. A place for anti-authoritarians to meet each other, build relationship beyond their immediate circles, and cross-pollinate.
If you know how to throw a party, you know how to host a full moon anarchist gathering!
A few of us have been doing this over the summer, and we think people in other areas might like to try it for themselves. We wanted to socialize with all our anarchist friends, we lack a space in our area that explicitly centers anti-authoritarian values rather than an impulsive “left unity”, and we wanted to encourage more anarchist connection and activity. Lots of anarchists here work on their own projects or in affinity groups and don’t often meet each other or know what others are up to. A full moon gathering is social and enjoyable, rather than a meeting or narrowly-focused project, and it helps us meet and share ideas outside our immediate circles. It’s even a chance for friends from nearby towns to visit and connect!
It’s just a regular potluck! Everyone brings food so that cooking labor is shared and doesn’t fall on only a few people. Labeling food for allergies & dietary needs is a MUST for this. We’ve been hosting in backyards and encourage people to bring chairs and firewood, help with setup and cleanup, and generally help the event happen and make it what they want it to be. We individually invite people with a forwardable invite with all the event info, saying they can feel free to share with their anti-authoritarian friends. This spreads along existing relationships rather than being fully open, which is helpful for hosting these at our homes. Being on the full moon makes it a memorable regular date that naturally moves so people aren’t always shut out by their work schedule. “many blame queers for the decline of this society— we take pride in this. some believe that we intend to shred-to-bits this civilization and its moral fabric—they couldn’t be more accurate. we’re often described as depraved, decadent, and revolting—but oh, they ain’t seen nothing yet.” – be gay do crime
after these moments of queer joy admidst the pain of suburban life, as annoying as the terf may be, this is not about the terf. this is not simply negation of a bigot but creation of a tranarchist subculture in middleton hills and the broader middleton/westside area. to that end, the newly formed middleton hills trans anarchist collective (https://linktr.ee/tranarchymiddletonhills) is hosting a trans skillshare at middleton library from 2:30 to 5 pm on saturday, october 28th! any tranarchist or accomplice is welcome to come teach about your skills and learn something new. some ideals: calling legislators about trans rights, how to get into community organizing, trans history 101, mutual aid + peer support, security culture, queer art, how to get involved with mhtac—and, you know, anything else your queer heart desires. feel free to bring resources, zines/stickers, and any trans-related or anarchist-organizing-related skill you’d like to teach others about. and above all, remember that suburbs are only heteronormative if we let them be. and that, even if you live in middleton hills, you’re not alone
