We are not special. Our skills are not overly technical or advanced, and our tools are simple to acquire. If you are reading this, you are capable of doing what we do.
While I agree with this sentiment, the reader is left with many questions about how to develop such a capacity for action, even if they are motivated. What exactly does it take to not get caught carrying out heavy actions like arson? This is especially important in the long run; not getting caught for a single arson is one thing, but being able to continue carrying out attacks in the face of heightened repressive attention is quite another.
For anyone who wants to carry out actions like this, but isn’t doing so yet, I’ve sketched an outline of the steps I think are necessary to sustain hard-hitting attacks on domination (limited to the topic of “operational” considerations, i.e., acquiring skills). This brief outline is intended to orient you and provide a “learning path” — each step has recommended reading that actually goes into the appropriate amount of depth on the subject. Use the Tails operating system to visit these links, which runs from a USB drive and leaves no trace on your computer. What I’ve written here is by no means definitive, and I hope to spark a dialogue about any operational aspects I may have neglected, as well as anything outside this scope that is important for sustaining and intensifying the capacity for action. Bank of America branch locked in response to BOA funding: Mountain Valley Pipeline, Cop City linked to Tortuguita’s murder, and the genocide of Palestinians in Gaza.
Chicago, Illinois — A Bank of America branch was locked and windows wheatepasted with flyers containing links to the bank’s abhorrent acts of cruelty. People are calling on BOA to drop its funding of the Mountain Valley Pipeline, a 303-mile pipeline described as “a scar across Appalachia.” The MVP will supply fuel to the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. RAAP is operated by BAE systems, which supplies the Israeli government with weapons used to murder Palestinians. BOA also funds Cop City, the 85-acre militarized police training compound that the Atlanta Police Foundation is attempting to build in Atlanta, GA. Construction for Cop City desecrates and bulldozes the Weelaunee Forest, the largest urban forest in the United States, dubbed one of the lungs of Atlanta. have you heard of MTU? it’s a subsidiary of Rolls Royce, based in Germany (but also operate in turtle island). a quick review of the MTU Solutions website will reveal they manufacture diesel engines for many unfavorable purposes: oil/gas extraction, mining vehicles, yachts, and perhaps most notably– military use.
MTU engines power 80% of the Israeli naval boats, as well as their Merkava tanks and armored personnel carriers. additionally, Rolls Royce components make possible the F-35 warplanes that carry out the genocidal airstrikes on Gaza.
“what better way to remember Tort than to leave caltrops and wall/window messages for a MTU engine technician training center?”, we thought.
and did.

there is so much more to do.

“If the cops kill me I want you to riot
Burn down their stations and set their cars alight
Know that I went out fighting and wish we all
Could just have peace and be free
…
We cannot have peace until this empire falls. Even then, peace takes work and freedom is a constant struggle. If the cops kill me I want you to riot, to kill as many of them as you can.” – Tort’s diary p. 121
Tortuguita lived and died fighting for the dispossessed, the wild, and the feral; against the world of empire, prisons, and police. It was a true warrior who made the forest its home, devoted their life to the struggle, and was willing to die a revolutionary death rather than be captured. We invite all those who knew Tort, and all who were impacted by its life from afar, to take the anniversary of their death as an opportunity to reflect on our own commitments and deepen our resolve, so that we might invigorate and intensify our conflictuality.
Rather than retreat into the bounds of comfort and safety, let us allow our memory of Tort to remind us of what it means to truly act in accordance with our values, and to challenge ourselves to follow through. We are rendered harmless only when we allow our fear of the enemy to eclipse our desires to defend the land and reduce this capitalist hellworld to ashes. Remember that the mechanisms of subjugation and control encroach all around us. Wherever you are, you need not venture far to find the veins of industry; go out and sever them.
We need not be concerned with optics and media portrayals. We have no interest in seeking validation, recognition, or understanding from the same media outlets — agents of the society we wish to destroy — that deadname and misgender Tortuguita and relentlessly whitewash its life as one of nonviolence and passivity. Additionally, to contort our actions to render them acceptable to the general public is to inevitably dull them to the point of irrelevance. To work only within the confines of the existent is to disarm ourselves completely. As anarchists, we are able to speak to each other in a language all our own. When we redecorate walls, shatter windows, and set fires, we speak to each other in ways that the media and the general public need not understand; we become beautiful. When we refuse legibility, when we refuse sympathy and demands, we refuse cooptation, we refuse recuperation, and we seek out life.

Early one December morning in so-called “Kalamazoo, Michigan”, four humans dressed in black crept under the light of golden arches, posters and spray paint in hand. They set out to disrupt people’s genocide-flavored morning coffee. Rollers oozing wheat paste, they splattered signs which read, “McDonald’s supports genocide”, “Free Gaza River to Sea”, “Hungry for Freedom”, and other messages onto the driveway menus, windows, and the speaker box. They also sprayed the word “BOYCOTT” onto the wall of the building in black paint, and quickly made their exit.
It was a monday morning. People would soon need their coffee to help them facilitate capitalism better, and McDonald’s would profit. The goal was to disrupt that as much as possible. While people in Kalamazoo enjoy a morning crappucino, people in Gaza don’t even have basic access to water – clean or dirty, thanks to corporations such as McDonald’s which directly support the Israeli bombings in Palestine. While people here can enjoy an egg mcmuffin and hashbrowns for breakfast, people in Gaza go hungry — 9 in 10 Gazans cannot eat everyday. If they do find food, it is likely moldly, expired, or otherwise unfit for consumption. While McDonald’s is hungry for profit, the world is hungry for freedom. The hope was to make the ongoing horrors in Palestine all too apparent to those who are complicit by supporting such businesses that aid in their continuation. This reportback consists of three elements. First, a description of the action, and the reasons it was taken. Second, a description of how this action was made to happen, to inspire comrades across the country to act. Third, lessons learned from the action for comrades.
From Jinx Press:
In Chicagoland last night, an autonomous group gathered outside the home of Stacie Kuhlman, Midwest Regional President of Wealth Management for BNY Mellon bank.
Activists disrupted dinnertime in Kuhlman’s otherwise quiet, wealthy neighborhood. Under the frosty glow of Christmas lights, they banged on pots and pans, sang, and chanted, ‘Stacie K, you can’t hide! You are funding genocide!’
Body bags representing the 15,000+ dead were tossed on Stacie Kuhlman’s lawn. Activists also distributed flyers to her neighbors. Some emerged from their homes to chat with LaGrange police officers.
One neighbor remarked to protesters, “She’s just doing what she’s told!”
“So were the Nazis!” they fired back.
BNY Mellon’s investment portfolios have directly funded Elbit Systems, Israel’s largest weapons supplier.
The arms manufacturer’s stock prices have surged since October 7. As noted by activists, BNY Mellon increased their shares in Elbit by 22% less than three weeks after the Israeli invasion of Gaza—increasing the wealth of Kuhlman’s managed investments in parallel with the senseless slaughter of Palestinians.
Activists around the globe continue to pressure Elbit and its subsidiaries with direct actions and blockades in an effort to halt ongoing bombing and encourage disinvestment.

To add to this: Stacie seemed pretty disrupted. She seemed to call the police, but the small-town police didn’t arrive until about 10-15 minutes after the group of comrades arrived, and once the police got there, they didn’t seem to know what to do. At peak, there were 6 squad cars. After about half an hour, Stacie seemed to have left the house via the back driveway, and people continued making noise and chanting for another half hour, then chanted marching up and down the street for a little while to alert the neighbors of Stacie’s crimes. On a chilly night last weekend, members of the ALF visited Grand River Fur Exchange in Rome, Ohio (6310 US Highway 6) and liberated 30 foxes being held captive there, destined for imminent slaughter so their skins could be sold for profit.
One thing we noticed about this particular farm, though at first glance it seemed moderately secure…..we didn’t even need bolt cutters. The wire encircling the pen where the foxes were held we were able to rip open with nothing but our hands. Once inside, the cage doors, held fast with a little bit of wire, were also able to be torn open with just a strong pull. It just goes to show that anyone, without requiring any special tools or know how, can visit a fur farm at night and save animals’ lives.
Most of the foxes were terrified of us, knowing humans come only to deliver abuse and death. But within minutes most of them had leapt from their cages, some escaping through the holes we had created in the enclosure. All of our efforts that night were repaid in an instant, seeing the foxes that had escaped into the outside world, knowing these were their first moments of a new and long life when minutes ago they had been condemned to death in mere weeks. No amount of chanting at street protests will give you anything close to the feeling of seeing animals you just freed get away. Continue reading “ALF Liberates 30 Foxes From Ohio Fur Farm”
