The Tender Recoding of the Cellular Motherboard

MhTAC announces transhumanist reading group

“It is the insertion of a topological-keyframe for the formation of a new logic. In affirming a future untethered to the repetition of the present, we militate for ampliative capacities, for spaces of freedom with a richer geometry than the aisle, the assembly line, and the feed.”–XF Overflow

On January 20th, at 10AM, outside Prairie Cafe, in Middleton Hills, our bodies and minds will transgress and rewire the very definitions of humanity and rediscover the intense cravings to connect and discover that the tepid token of domestic submission has hidden from us. The Middleton Hills Trans Anarchist Collective will be discussing Laboria Cuboniks’s The Xenofeminist Manifesto and a journal called Anarcho-Transhumanism #3, and will be considering how the philosophy of transhumanism can be used to liberate us from all forms of hierarchy and allow us to discover unimaginable joys through the constructive tensions of our bodies and minds. What do you want to hack from and beyond humanity to make your own belonging? What would you do with your life in an anarchist biology? What do you want to unpick and press the very tender filaments of together as the worlds in your spirit awaken?

SUPPORT REQUEST FOR HANNAH KASS

Posted on 2023/12/11 by unsalted

In addition to facing profound state repression, Stop Cop City RICO co-defendants are having their accounts at Bank of America suddenly closed. Defendant Hannah Kass, an organizer for food equity and eco-defense, is in need of survival funds this week because she had her account closed—to support Hannah and her co-defendants, please share this ask, and venmo @madisonsolidarity with the subject line “support.” No donation is too small, and if you can’t contribute financially, signal boosting this is equally helpful and meaningful. Thank you all for your community care and solidarity!

FIND EACH OTHER: WINTER EDITION

Posted on 2023/12/08 - 2024/06/05 by unsalted

We wanted to submit this addendum to “Find Each Other, Build Your Communities: Full Moon Anarchist Gatherings”. So many people have been able to connect or reconnect with other anti-authoritarians thanks to the organizers of gatherings like the ones described. BUT, it seems that whomever wrote this either left some stuff out, or just isn’t familiar with Great Lakes region weather and/or doesn’t seem to be concerned about hosting potential superspreader events inside in the midst of another covid surge and the height of flu season. We have enough ancestors and enough of our people have been sidelined by long covid already. So here’s…

FIND EACH OTHER: WINTER EDITION

Most readers probably don’t imagine such social events happening outside in the middle of winter, in deep snow or blustry north winds, but sometimes that’s what we HAVE TO DO, for almost half the year. Thankfully, doing so can be just as fun as a summer event, just in different ways, and can leave you feeling badass after pulling it off. Continue reading “FIND EACH OTHER: WINTER EDITION” →

ALF Liberates 30 Foxes From Ohio Fur Farm

Posted on 2023/11/26 - 2024/06/05 by unsalted
Exterior view of the large buildings of a fur farm.

On a chilly night last weekend, members of the ALF visited Grand River Fur Exchange in Rome, Ohio (6310 US Highway 6) and liberated 30 foxes being held captive there, destined for imminent slaughter so their skins could be sold for profit.

One thing we noticed about this particular farm, though at first glance it seemed moderately secure…..we didn’t even need bolt cutters. The wire encircling the pen where the foxes were held we were able to rip open with nothing but our hands. Once inside, the cage doors, held fast with a little bit of wire, were also able to be torn open with just a strong pull. It just goes to show that anyone, without requiring any special tools or know how, can visit a fur farm at night and save animals’ lives.

Most of the foxes were terrified of us, knowing humans come only to deliver abuse and death. But within minutes most of them had leapt from their cages, some escaping through the holes we had created in the enclosure. All of our efforts that night were repaid in an instant, seeing the foxes that had escaped into the outside world, knowing these were their first moments of a new and long life when minutes ago they had been condemned to death in mere weeks. No amount of chanting at street protests will give you anything close to the feeling of seeing animals you just freed get away. Continue reading “ALF Liberates 30 Foxes From Ohio Fur Farm” →

Find Each Other, Build Your Communities: Full Moon Anarchist Gatherings

Posted on 2023/11/19 - 2024/06/05 by unsalted

Monthly gatherings centering anti-authoritarian politics and values, rather than ditching them in favor of ‘left unity’. A place for anti-authoritarians to meet each other, build relationship beyond their immediate circles, and cross-pollinate.

If you know how to throw a party, you know how to host a full moon anarchist gathering!

A few of us have been doing this over the summer, and we think people in other areas might like to try it for themselves. We wanted to socialize with all our anarchist friends, we lack a space in our area that explicitly centers anti-authoritarian values rather than an impulsive “left unity”, and we wanted to encourage more anarchist connection and activity. Lots of anarchists here work on their own projects or in affinity groups and don’t often meet each other or know what others are up to. A full moon gathering is social and enjoyable, rather than a meeting or narrowly-focused project, and it helps us meet and share ideas outside our immediate circles. It’s even a chance for friends from nearby towns to visit and connect!

How?

It’s just a regular potluck! Everyone brings food so that cooking labor is shared and doesn’t fall on only a few people. Labeling food for allergies & dietary needs is a MUST for this. We’ve been hosting in backyards and encourage people to bring chairs and firewood, help with setup and cleanup, and generally help the event happen and make it what they want it to be. We individually invite people with a forwardable invite with all the event info, saying they can feel free to share with their anti-authoritarian friends. This spreads along existing relationships rather than being fully open, which is helpful for hosting these at our homes. Being on the full moon makes it a memorable regular date that naturally moves so people aren’t always shut out by their work schedule. Action Against Genocide Manufacturers in Mpls/Stp metro

Posted on 2023/11/16 - 2024/06/05 by unsalted

For 75+ years western powers namely AmeriKa and Britain have funded, supported, and actively participated in genocidal settler colonialism on the land called Palestine and against the Palestinian peoples. The Palestinian people have always fought against the destruction of their land. This is clear historically with groups like the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PLFP) and the anti colonial actions of Leila Khalid. As well as the first, second, and knife intifada.

These acts of resistance have continued into this decade. The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigade and the Lion Den among many others in the West Bank continue to resist “Israeli” and western occupation. We understand the acts of October 7th to be anti colonial acts of defiance and resistance—the Al-Aqsa flood.

There are many corporations funding and supplying the genocide now. Instead of focusing on the almost total Minnesota governmental support of the genocide—including Walz, Frey, Melvin Carter, Amy Klobachar, Ilan Omar etc— we want to single out those manufacturing in death and destruction: Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Raytheon, and General Dynamic.
This is not an exhausted list. If you feel so called there are numerous military recruiting offices in the twin cities metro area. Continue reading “Action Against Genocide Manufacturers in Mpls/Stp metro” →

Banner Drops in Ypsilanti & Ann Arbor in Solidarity with Stop Cop City

Posted on 2023/11/13 - 2023/11/16 by unsalted
A banner hanging from a roof in downtown Ann Arbor which reads "Free Palestine, Stop Cop City"

Last night we dropped a banner in downtown Ann Arbor reading “Free Palestine, Stop Cop City” in solidarity with the Block Cop City Week of Action and with Palestinians everywhere.

The genocide of Palestinians is directly supported by the Atlanta Police Foundation and all cops defending it. These two struggles are connected. The unmitigated violence of Cop City as well as the IDF will be brought “home” to be used against us if the need arises. No to settler colonialism, no to cop city!
A black flag on a police monument flagpole which reads "ACAB"
We also improved a local police monument by hoisting a black flag reading “ACAB” in place of some thin blue line trash, to make them mad and make us laugh.

Love and rage to everyone throwing down to stop cop city, and to everyone fighting for life against domination.

Invitation to the First International Gathering of Anarchist and Antiauthoritarian Practices in Tijuana, Mexico

Posted on 2023/11/12 by unsalted
Event flyer with blocks of text, bolt cutters cutting barbed wire, and a chaos star, reading: "1st Annual International Anarchist and Anti-Authoritarian Gathering Against Borders (in Tijuana). From the territory dominated by the Mexican State, we sound this call for the First International Gathering of Anarchist and Antiauthoritarian Practices to take place in the borderlands of Tijuana, Mexico. We are organizing for the gathering to take place January 25, 26 and 27 2024, with the goal of agitation, solidarity, and self-organization of anarchist and antiauthoritarian rage against the borders across lands, the borders in our minds, and the emotional borders between us as individuals. As part of the anarchist legacy of confrontation, we have never invested any hope in the political spectacle of elections, nor waited passively for some rupture from “the masses,” nor expected the appearance of a clearly defined revolutionary subject to descend upon us and make the revolution or raise the consciousness of the bosses, the rich, or their lackeys. Accordingly, we invite all collectives, projects, and individuals involved in publishing, audio-visual propaganda, counter-information, anti-prison work, and anyone else that advances daily on the treacherous path of anarchism and antiauthoritarianism—of attacks against power—to send in your proposals for workshops, discussions, book presentations, short films and documentaries, musical performances, works of theater or other art, which will be spread horizontally, in solidarity, and self-organized in an offensive against power and its henchmen. To propose an activity, please reach us at: encuentroanarquico@riseup.net. We will update the organization of the gathering as we continue to confirm the activities."

Anarchism Must Not Be Criminalized – Statement from 12 of the 61 People Indicted on RICO Charges in Atlanta

Posted on 2023/11/09 - 2024/06/05 by unsalted

This RICO indictment is an attempt by the state to not only criminalize dissent, but a specific set of ideas which leads to dissent and offers an alternative framework to the state and capitalism. Anarchism, solidarity, mutual aid, and collectivism are specifically named in the indictment to make people afraid of these ideas, when the only people who are actually afraid of these collective ways of organizing are the politicians, cops, and corporations who seek to preserve their absolute power over humanity. If we had ways of living more collectively, satisfied our needs through mutual aid, and had solidarity with each other, people may realize they don’t need the state or capitalism, and they may realize that the greatest causes of human suffering and barriers to freedom and security are the state and capitalism. The state wants us to be atomized consumers who cannot survive without selling ourselves to someone wealthier than us, who rely on alienating, impersonal judicial systems and violence from a gang of armed outsiders to resolve our conflicts, who outsource the production of our food to invisibIlized, mostly non-white, non-citizen laborers, and who outsource our decisions to a corrupt, unaccountable politician class. The state wants us to be terrified and paralyzed into allowing the continuation of its sordid legacy through the land grab, the plantation, and the prison farm which haunts the Weelaunee forest and all the state’s territories to this day. This critical analysis of the state is an important part of anarchism, and it is what the state and corporate media want to scare us away from and criminalize.

Acting autonomously and directly to shape our world is a good thing. Solidarity means seeing our siblings in the human species as people with the same intrinsic value as ourselves. A society which depends on endlessly competing, undercutting, exploiting, dominating, and selling each other out is going to be scrutinized and resisted by anyone who believes in solidarity. Mutual aid means providing for each other and collectively gaining from the construction of mutually beneficial interpersonal/inter-community relationships. A society which depends on depriving us of the ability to meet our needs for food, water, shelter, and healthcare and then selling them back to us is going to be seen as unjust and worth changing/rejecting by anyone who believes in mutual aid. Fowler’s description of collectivism is a bogeyman meant to imply that anarchists intend to force everyone to give up their personal autonomy and sacrifice their needs for the collective, but in fact a core goal of anarchism is to empower people to have more autonomy, and a core goal of the state to force everyone to sacrifice some or all of their autonomy for the continuation of systems which enrich a shocking few and are making the Earth uninhabitable. Do you feel free when you go to work? When you pay taxes? When you pay rent? When you pay for health insurance? When you pay for groceries? If people had more solidarity maybe they wouldn’t allow the US to invade and exploit other countries with impunity. Maybe they wouldn’t allow the US to imprison millions of people, tear apart families at the border, or let people starve to death while throwing away half of all the food. If people learned about mutual aid maybe they would start to solve these problems themselves, start to mitigate the damage done by the state, and demonstrate that none of it is necessary.
